Conventional air purifiers are primarily focused on air filtration – the removal of particulate matter and allergens. VIRUSKILLER™ takes this one step further by implementing not only world-class filtration and gas neutralization, but state-of-the-art active virus decontamination. Bioaerosols and viral pathogens that can pass through traditional filters are deactivated in a patented, high power UV-C Reactor Chamber, delivering clean, hygienic air. This is achieved in only a single air pass, with the flow of contaminated and clean air carefully controlled in the room.

Potentially contaminated air is drawn away from occupants in the room, where it enters the VIRUSKILLER™ unit and is exposed to three distinct stages of treatment. First, high-end filtration removes airborne particulates and ultrafine particles before activated carbon neutralizes toxic gases and VOCs. Finally, organic and biological contaminants are exposed to a patented UV-C Reactor Chamber, where germicidal hydroxyl radicals are produced to efficiently deactivate viruses, bacteria, mold, and fungi. VIRUSKILLER™ units have been manufactured to be as quiet as possible while still ensuring maximum airflow. The devices produce a similar sound and volume to a typical air conditioning system or fan. Noise level ranges are detailed in the unit specification sheets.

VIRUSKILLER™ effectively neutralizes harmful gases and VOCs such as formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, acetic acid, ammonia, toluene, and nitrogen dioxide, while assisting in the speedy removal of unpleasant odors. For exceptionally high concentrations of odors or gases, Radic8 recommends using VIRUSKILLER™ units alongside effective ventilation and other best-practice gas removal processes.

The VK 103, VK 102 and VK Medi have a built-in indoor air quality sensor. When high levels of dust or smoke are detected, the fan speed will automatically increase to compensate for the increased presence of pollutants. When levels return to normal, the unit returns to ambient mode.

VIRUSKILLER™ utilizes premium HEPA filters to prevent the spread of pollen, pet dander, and other particulates, helping to alleviate allergy symptoms from common airborne allergens.

The VK 401 was independently tested against SARS-Cov-2 (COVID-19), excluding proxy or surrogate strains, with World Health Organization-approved equipment, showing that it effectively deactivated the virus in real time. Learn More


Radic8 offers a standard one-year manufacturer’s warranty on all VIRUSKILLER™ units and Hextio.

Radic8 devices are designed to be easily cleaned and serviced, including the replacing of consumables. The product manuals provide all the necessary information required to maintain your units.

Once the unit is installed and is operational, the pre-filter should be wiped or vacuumed once a week to prevent trapped particles from blocking the airflow and damaging the fan.

Yes, we recommend using personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling HEPA and carbon filters and placing the used filters in a sealed refuse bag before disposal. Additionally, sanitizer containing more than 65% alcohol can be used to lightly mist filters and external covers to kill all potential viruses that may be trapped in the filters before removal.

The lifespan of the activated carbon and HEPA filters varies from unit to unit, as does the environment in which it is installed, while the Reactor Chamber is rated for 8,000 hours. For more information, refer to the unit’s product manual.

You can order all spare parts through your local distributor.

We advise end users to contact third-party service providers to safely dispose of components. Where local facilities exist, the UV lamps can be recycled.

The lifespan of a VIRUSKILLER™ unit is 10 years.


All VIRUSKILLER™ devices are completely plug-and-play and typically do not require specialized installation or changes to infrastructure. However, placement of the units is very important, taking airflow into account and minimizing obstructions. Your local distributor can assist with optimal placement of your unit. Please contact your distributor and provide them with the following information:

  • Dimensions of space (including approximate ceiling height if non-standard)
  • Level of protection sought (e.g. clean air to protect patrons in the local bar or restaurant)
  • Number of people utilizing the room
  • Preferred or required air changes per hour (ACH)
  • Other ventilation or airflow in the room (e.g. windows, doors, air conditioning units)
  • A floor plan or rough sketch of the room layout

VIRUSKILLER™ units should be positioned to maximize airflow from the AC unit, rather than compete against it. Please get in touch with your local distributor for installation guidance.

VIRUSKILLER™ units can easily be moved to different rooms. Smaller units are light enough to be carried, while the tower units have casters for easy positioning. However, VIRUSKILLER™ units are not designed to be relocated and should be positioned for the long term to ensure coverage in a single space. In special circumstances, the VK 401 can be mounted on a stand to maintain the ideal position for indoor air decontamination.

Yes, Radic8 encourages windows remain open if possible to ensure dilution of indoor air pollution and circulation of oxygen. VIRUSKILLER™ does not negate the need for adequate indoor ventilation.

Yes, VIRUSKILLER™ technology has been extensively tested by independent organizations and laboratories, government bodies, and engineering institutions.

VIRUSKILLER™ devices have been tested and certified by a range of internationally recognised safety and compliance bodies, including Conformité Européenne (CE), the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), Korea Certification (KC), and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification. VIRUSKILLER™ units are entirely safe to be around while operating, and we highly recommend their use in this way. The air produced by our units is filtered, neutralized, and decontaminated, making it entirely safe for breathing.

VIRUSKILLER™ units should remain switched on and operational while people are present in the room. While there is no harm in leaving the units on 24/7, spaces that have periods of downtime (such as after hours or overnight) can benefit from switching the devices off for the sake of power efficiency and extending the lifespan of consumables.
